Katherine Mitchell holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Hendrix College in Arkansas. She is currently completing her master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Sam Houston State University. Katherine has previous experience working with serious mental illness, including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia. She also has experience working with clients in a community counseling center and working with children in a day treatment facility. Katherine is also a Certified Sex Therapist-Candidate through the Texas Sex Therapy Institute. She enjoys working with a variety of clientele, such as individuals, couples, and families. Katherine utilizes a solution focused approach with clients. She understands that many times clients seek counseling because they are out of solutions and think they are unequipped to solve their own problems, but she disagrees. Katherine aims to empower clients so that they can discover more effective solutions to their problems; helping clients to move from a problem-focused to a solution-focused way of thinking. She also incorporates cognitive-behavioral approaches with clients when appropriate.
